Wine-loving tourists head to Central Otago to sample the region’s internationally renowned Pinot Noir, but it is often Riesling that surprises them. This lovely example has been made off-dry. What a bouquet! It’s easy to imagine rain on hot river pebbles, mandarin peel, flint and marmalade, all with a floral backdrop. It is beautifully balanced thanks to integrated acids that act as a perfect foil for the rich fruit through the middle. It’s enjoyable now, but could be cellared until 2022, or perhaps even longer.
